Shifting Focus feat. Philippe Calia

May 4, 2017

The thing with documentary photography is, it’s not just about snapping a camera at the things happening around you. It’s about arresting a moment in time; and artistically at that. While the definition of art is quite debatable and there’s no denying it being subjective, we can safely agree that a person’s capability to look at the ordinary and pick an exceptional stance that would otherwise go unseen, translates into art. These are photographs that highlight the photographer’s observation more than anything.

Philippe Calia, a cinematographer for The Wedding Filmer is one such person who documents the unusual and creates stills that tell stories in themselves. Hailing from Paris, his personal work has been exhibited in cities like Bangalore, Belfast, Bombay, London, New Delhi, Paris and New York and is held in private collections in India.

Below are a few pictures he has clicked while on travel with TWF. Have a look at how gorgeous world looks through his eyes and let us know what you think!
