Data Management and What It Means

October 13, 2017

In this age of information where technologies are updating and changing constantly, we are faced with newer challenges and drawbacks every day. From film to digital and now 4K, the constantly updating resolutions bring with it a larger file size. A 60 second video shot in AVCHD is roughly 201mb, whereas the same in XAVC would be 430mb.

Hence, one of the biggest problems of the near future is undoubtedly going to be data-management.

According to a recent IDC report, only 20% of the data created globally will have the potential to be useful and yet only 15% of this will be instrumental for analytics and algorithms if sorted and tagged correctly.

Understanding the importance of this information is vital to the smooth functioning of a company like ours and many more out there who are generating data at an increasing pace.

Whether you’re a filmmaker or a photographer, this is a subject that you must pay attention to.

To learn about the dos and don’ts of data-management, attend an upcoming TWF workshop.
